VNQ5E050MK Automotive Turn Signal, Position Lamp & DRL Constant-On Quad High-Side Driver IC (PowerSSO-24)
The VNQ5E050MK is a quad-channel high-side driver IC manufactured in advanced VIPower M0-5 technology, specifically designed for automotive lighting and body control applications. This chip is engineered to drive turn signal lamps, position lights, and daytime running lights (DRLs) with constant-on functionality, making it an essential component for modern vehicle exterior lighting modules.
This driver IC is housed in a compact PowerSSO-24 package, optimized for efficient thermal management and space-constrained PCB layouts. The device operates across a wide supply voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, making it adaptable to various automotive power systems including 12V and 24V platforms. Each of the four output channels can handle continuous loads up to 19A, with a typical on-resistance of only 50 mΩ, ensuring minimal power dissipation and excellent energy efficiency.
The VNQ5E050MK integrates advanced protective functions to ensure robust and reliable operation. These include load current limitation, inrush current active management through power limitation, overtemperature shutdown with auto-restart, and overvoltage active clamp. The chip also provides comprehensive protection against loss of ground, loss of VCC, reverse battery conditions, and electrostatic discharge, making it exceptionally durable in harsh automotive environments.
A dedicated analog current sense pin is associated with every output channel, providing enhanced diagnostic capabilities including proportional load current sensing, fast detection of overload and short-circuit to ground, and overtemperature indication. The current sensing and diagnostic feedback can be disabled via the CS_DIS pin, allowing sharing of the external sense resistor with other similar devices in multi-chip systems.
The device features a 3.0V CMOS compatible input interface, ensuring seamless communication with any microcontroller. It is optimized for low electromagnetic emissions and very low electromagnetic susceptibility, complying with automotive EMC requirements. The very low standby current consumption helps preserve vehicle battery life during ignition-off periods.
This quad-channel driver IC is widely used as a replacement component for failed lighting circuits on body computer boards in European and American vehicle models. It is suitable for driving all types of resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads, including LED arrays, incandescent lamps, relays, and solenoids. The VNQ5E050MK meets stringent automotive-grade quality standards and is AEC-Q100 qualified for high-reliability applications.
