TPS65917 Automotive PMIC – 5x Step-Down Converters & 5x LDOs with OTP Power Sequencing for ADAS & Surround View Systems
The TPS65917 is a highly integrated Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) specifically designed for automotive applications, particularly for powering processors in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), surround view camera modules, and digital instrument clusters. This device delivers a complete power solution by combining five configurable step-down SMPS converters and five low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators in a single compact 7mm × 7mm VQFN-48 package.
The five SMPS regulators offer output voltages from 0.7V to 3.3V in 10mV or 20mV steps, with current capabilities ranging from 1.5A to 3.5A. Two of these converters can be combined in a dual-phase configuration to deliver up to 7A of output current, featuring differential remote sensing for precise voltage regulation. Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) control and output current measurement are supported on the 3.5A and 3A regulators, enabling efficient processor power management.
The five LDO linear regulators provide 0.9V to 3.3V output in 50mV steps, with current capabilities of 100mA to 300mA, including one low-noise LDO suitable for sensitive analog domains. The integrated 12-bit Sigma-Delta GPADC with eight input channels (two external) monitors system voltages, output currents, and die temperature, allowing the host processor to track system health in real-time.
This PMIC features a powerful power-sequence controller using factory-programmed OTP memory, enabling start-up without software intervention. Most static settings can be reconfigured via SPI or I2C interfaces to adapt to various system requirements. Comprehensive protection mechanisms include short-circuit protection, over-temperature warning with thermal shutdown, and OTP bit-integrity error detection that halts power-up sequences to prevent unknown system states.
Qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 2 (–40°C to +105°C), this device is the ideal power management backbone for automotive surround view systems, ADAS processors, and navigation units, delivering the reliability, integration, and flexibility demanded by modern vehicle electronics.
