L9709-AF Automotive Injector Driver IC – Six-Channel Solenoid Control for ECU
L9709-AF is a six-channel solenoid driver IC designed for automotive engine control units (ECUs).
It is specifically engineered to drive fuel injectors, idle air control valves, and other inductive loads in engine management systems.
Each channel can deliver up to 1.2A of peak current with integrated flyback clamping diodes for inductive kickback suppression.
The device operates from a wide supply range of 4.5V to 36V, making it suitable for 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.
All six outputs are low-side drivers with overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown for enhanced system reliability.
The L9709-AF features a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for diagnostics, including open-load detection and short-circuit reporting.
Fast switching speed ensures precise injection timing, which is critical for fuel efficiency and emission compliance.
This chip is commonly found in gasoline direct injection (GDI) and diesel common rail ECUs requiring multiple injector channels.
When original injector drivers fail, replacing the L9709-AF can restore full injector function without replacing the entire ECU.
It accepts logic inputs from 3.3V or 5V microcontrollers and is available in a PowerSO-36 package for good thermal dissipation.
Typical applications include aftermarket ECU rebuilding, transmission control units, and general automotive inductive load driving.
