VD7140A Dual-Channel Automotive Lighting Driver IC - MultiSense High-Side Switch for Body Control
VD7140A Double Channel High-Side Smart Power Driver for Automotive Lighting
This double channel high-side driver is manufactured using advanced VIPower M0-7 technology and is specifically designed for automotive body control and lighting applications. It provides a robust, highly integrated solution for driving 12V grounded loads such as tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, and interior lighting through a 3V and 5V CMOS-compatible interface.
Optimized for 12V Automotive Systems with Cold-Cranking Support
The VD7140A is engineered to meet the stringent cold-cranking requirements of modern vehicles with stop-start technology, featuring a minimum supply voltage down to 3.2V. This ensures essential lighting and body control functions remain operational even during engine cranking when battery voltage dips significantly.
Low On-Resistance for High Efficiency
Housed in a compact PowerSSO-16 package, the device features extremely low on-resistance, minimizing power dissipation and heat generation during high-current operation. Its compact design is 40% smaller than competing solutions, enabling denser PCB layouts.
MultiSense Analog Diagnostic Feedback
The VD7140A integrates a sophisticated MultiSense analog output pin that delivers multiplexed diagnostic functions. This includes high-precision proportional load current sensing, supply voltage feedback, and chip temperature monitoring. The system microcontroller can detect overload, short-to-ground, thermal shutdown, OFF-state open-load, and short-to-VCC conditions in real time.
Comprehensive Protection Suite
Designed for maximum reliability in harsh automotive environments, the device integrates extensive protection features: undervoltage shutdown, overvoltage clamp, load current limitation, active power limitation management, and overtemperature shutdown with configurable latch-off. A dedicated FaultRST pin unlatches the output or disables the latch-off functionality.
Automotive-Grade Quality
Fully AEC-Q100 qualified, the VD7140A delivers stable performance across the -40°C to +150°C junction temperature range. Its very low standby current minimizes battery drain in idle mode, making it ideal for modern energy-efficient vehicle designs.
