L9708 – Automotive Engine Computer Board IC Chip for Fuel Injector / Solenoid Driver
L9708 is a multi-channel low-side driver IC specifically designed for automotive engine computer boards.
It is ideal for driving fuel injectors, idle air control valves, EVAP canister purge solenoids, and other inductive loads in engine management systems.
The device integrates eight independent low-side driver channels, each capable of handling continuous currents up to 1.2A and peak currents up to 5A.
Output channels are controlled via a standard serial peripheral interface (SPI), allowing precise timing and diagnostics for each channel.
L9708 operates from a wide supply voltage range of 4.5V to 36V, making it suitable for 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.
Each channel includes built-in overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, and inductive clamping for safe operation with solenoids and injectors.
The chip also features thermal shutdown and open-load detection, with diagnostic feedback readable through the SPI interface.
It is designed to withstand harsh automotive conditions, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +150°C (junction temperature).
Fast switching characteristics (typically <10µs) ensure precise fuel delivery and emissions control, helping engines meet Euro 6 and EPA standards.
L9708 is commonly used in gasoline and diesel engine ECUs, as well as transmission control modules and body electronics requiring multiple low-side outputs.
Each IC is fully tested for ESD protection (up to 8kV HBM) and meets AEC-Q100 reliability requirements for automotive applications.
