BTS736L2 Dual Channel Light Driver IC for Automotive Engine & Body Control Modules – High-Side Switch for Lamp Applications
BTS736L2 is a dual channel high-side power switch IC specifically designed for automotive lighting applications.
It is commonly used in both engine control modules (ECM) and body control modules (BCM) to drive exterior and interior lights.
Typical applications include headlights, tail lights, turn signals, daytime running lights, fog lamps, and interior cabin lighting.
Each output channel can drive lamps with currents up to several amperes, making it suitable for both incandescent and LED lighting.
The chip features very low on-resistance per channel, which minimizes power loss and heat generation during normal operation.
Built-in current limiting protects the device and wiring harness from damage during short-circuit conditions.
Overtemperature shutdown automatically turns off the affected channel when excessive heat is detected, protecting the chip from thermal failure.
The BTS736L2 also includes open-load detection, helping technicians identify burned-out bulbs or disconnected lamp assemblies.
Diagnostic feedback can be reported back to the main microcontroller for advanced fault handling.
Input voltage range covers typical automotive battery levels from 5V to 28V, withstanding load dump transients.
Very low standby current consumption makes it suitable for always-connected body control applications.
The device is protected against reverse battery connection, preventing damage from improper jump-starting.
It comes in a compact surface-mount package with excellent thermal performance for harsh under-hood and cabin environments.
This driver IC is an ideal replacement for failed lighting channels in aftermarket ECU and BCM repairs.
Reliable operation is guaranteed across the full automotive temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.
