40301 – Common Failure Power Driver IC for Automotive ECU – High-Side & Low-Side

$4.15

The 40301 is a multi-channel power driver IC commonly found in automotive engine, transmission, and body control modules.

It integrates both high-side and low-side drivers in a single package, making it suitable for driving relays, solenoids, injectors, lamps, and small motors found in typical vehicle electrical systems.

This device is widely recognized as a frequent failure component in many OEM ECUs, where repetitive switching and thermal stress eventually degrade the output stages.

Typical failure symptoms include intermittent operation of a specific actuator, shorted output that blows external fuses, or a completely dead output channel.

The 40301 operates from a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, with transient withstand up to 40V, covering 12V automotive electrical environments including cranking and load-dump events.

Each output channel includes independent overcurrent protection, overtemperature shutdown, and output clamping for inductive load commutation.

Diagnostic feedback is provided via status flags for open-load detection, short-to-battery, and short-to-ground conditions, allowing the main microcontroller to identify faulty actuators.

This IC is AEC-Q100 qualified and supports an operating temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, suitable for under-hood and transmission-mounted applications.

For ECU repair shops and remanufacturers, the 40301 is a high-demand replacement part that restores full driver functionality without replacing the entire control module.
