40090 Automotive 4-Phase Synchronous Buck Controller IC - 4.5V-15V, Up to 1MHz/Phase
40090 is a versatile two-, three-, or four-phase programmable synchronous buck controller.
This IC is specifically designed for low-voltage, high-current applications in automotive electronic systems.
It operates from a 4.5V to 15V supply and supports switching frequencies up to 1MHz per phase.
The multiphase topology significantly reduces input and output capacitor ripple current.
It also delivers faster transient response to load steps compared to single-stage designs.
The controller uses fixed-frequency, peak current mode control with forced phase current balancing.
You can configure the device for two-, three-, or four-phase operation by connecting the unused phase PWM outputs to the internal 5V LDO.
For current sensing, it supports either using resistors or, for higher efficiency, the DCR of the filter inductors.
Additional features include a true remote sense differential amplifier and a programmable load line.
A programmable current limit, soft-start, and a power good indicator are also integrated.
The automotive-qualified version supports a junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
This robust IC is ideal for powering ECUs, infotainment systems, and other high-current loads in vehicles.
